Een slide, of ook wel bottleneck genoemd, is een buisje van glas of metaal. Dit wordt om de vinger heen geschoven om over de snaren heen te glijden. Je drukt de snaren dus niet meer in. Deze techniek is herkenbaar in de blues en folk muziek. Dit kun je zowel op akoestische- als elektrische gitaren toepassen maar wordt veelal op Dobro gitaren toegepast.
